Program Overview

Program Description:
During their stay in Florence, students live with Florentine families in demi-pensione arrangements (i.e. breakfast and evening meal taken with the family) in double accommodations.

Study Italian language at any level with no prior language study required. Students also participate in Italian cooking courses. Students will attend two cooking classes each month where they will learn how prepare two authentic Italian primi (first-course dishes) and a dessert in each lesson. Weekends and afternoons are free. General cultural assignments are given by the Program Director to supplement the students’ language training program and overall appreciation of Florence.

The program fee includes KU tuition, tuition at the A.D.G., books, cooking classes, guided visits to museums, room and board (demi-pensione), and emergency medical evacuation and repatriation services.
Setting Description:
Students attend the Accademia del Giglio (A.D.G.) for either June, July, or June and July. Classes at the A.D.G. are generally limited to 7-8 students and are conducted in Italian by native Italian instructors. For each one-month course of study the student has classes each morning, five days per week, museum visits, and organized group activities.
