As a teaching volunteer in Laos, you will work with a wide variety of students teaching both practical and conversational English across different levels. This challenging but rewarding role will provide volunteers with an insight into Laotian culture. Teaching volunteers in Laos will work on the project Monday to Friday, planning and delivering English lessons. Weekends are yours to explore the surrounding area or simply relax at base with your fellow volunteers. Whilst volunteering in Luang Prabang you will be given the opportunity to be part of several projects and teach in diverse environments. Below are a list of the teaching projects volunteers can get involved with.
The project was founded in 2013 by local staff who strongly believe that education, both formal and informal, is key to providing long term solutions to sustainable development and poverty reduction in Laos. This is a small grassroots organisation working in Luang Prabang (a world heritage site), which is also the educational hub of Northern Laos. The aim of the project is to work with young Laotians and develop their skills and potential, so they can have better opportunities in the future.
- Setting Description:
- Luang Prabang was previously the ancient capital of the Lane Xang Kingdom. With a long historical background as a political, cultural, and Buddhist centre, it has become a ‘legend’ in the Southeast Asian world. The former royal capital is classified by UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE in 1995, and known as the ‘best-preserved traditional town in Southeast Asia.’ Luang Prabang has become a popular point to journey into the very heart of Laos.
- The cost to join this teaching volunteer project in Laos is £680 for 2 weeks, £760 for 3 weeks, £840 for 4 weeks, £880 for 6 weeks, £930 for 8 weeks, £1080 for 12 weeks and £1330 for 24 weeks.
