Vermont International Academy is a United States High School, approved by the State of Vermont Board of Education to offer a US high school diploma in cooperation with Datong High School in Shanghai, China. Drawing from Western, Eastern, and Vermont values, Vermont International Academy offers a world-class American college preparatory education with state of the art facilities and US licensed teachers, set in Shanghai, China. US students who enroll in VIA will experience aspects of Chinese education and the city of Shanghai, while having the support of Vermont licensed educators in a familiar US educational curriculum. VIA views these students as ambassadors who will return to their home states with intimate knowledge of the Chinese culture and history.

The Vermont International Academy is a United States High School located in Shanghai, China. It offers a US high school education that values knowledge, innovation and global understanding. VIA’s curriculum supports these values through a holistic approach to education. As a college-preparatory school, VIA’s curriculum is grounded in the history of eastern and western ideas. VIA serves Chinese, US, and other students from around the world. VIA’s programs and curriculum is based on the Vermont Frameworks, Vermont graduation requirements, and the Common Core State Standards. VIA partners with top tier Vermont and other US universities to ensure students who successfully complete the program have priority access to Vermont and other US universities.

As a supporter of President Barack Obama's "100,000 Strong Initiative" the VIA is able to offer full scholarship for the upcoming 2012 academic year.

Setting Description:

Shanghai, developed over 1,000 years ago as an important seaport in the Yangtze Delta region in Eastern China, provides an ideal site for international education. Students will be studying on campus at the Datong High School, located in the Huangpu District of Shanghai. Recently celebrating its one hundredth anniversary, the Datong High School is one of Shanghai's most prestigious high schools.
