- These programs center on two of the areas of excellence within Chelsea College of Art – Graphic Design Communication and Interior Spatial Design.
The program has been carefully designed to ensure a balance of theory and skills based learning, underpinned by valuable historical and cultural study. You will also benefit from experiencing the stimulating cultural resources of the capital. Students who have participated in our Study Abroad programs during the past 20 years, have benefitted in many ways, not least the opportunity to underpin their course curriculum from their home institution, but also the ability to explore imaginative visual thinking and capitalise on London as a learning resource in a welcoming and supportive environment. Our experience demonstrates that students also return to their home Institutions with a broadened perspective after immense personal growth and development.
The program has 2 pathways –
• Graphic Design Communication - A contemporary approach to graphic design.
• Interior Spatial Design – An exploration of spatial concerns from a less traditional paper-based point of view
Students also have the opportunity to undertake study of European Art History as an additional option.
There are also opportunities to study on Summer School programs
Interior Spatial Design The BA course, based at Chelsea College of Art, encourages students to engage critically with contemporary design through projects conducted in a studio environment that promote the conceptual and practical skills required of interior design and spatial design professionals. Working with existing buildings and spaces, students explore different possibilities for habitation and use. The BA course engages critically with contemporary design and focuses on designing complex architectural spaces, discreet multi-media installations and sensory environments. Graphic Design Communication The BA course offers a contemporary approach to graphic design for students interested in entering this fast moving, ever expanding industry. The course engenders a passion for high-level ideas generation, with innovative and directional concepts supported by the development of professional digital, technical and presentation skills. The Study Abroad program is based at Chelsea College of Art and promotes and delivers a wide range of media thus providing an excellent learning experience. Program Highlights include • High-level ideas generation • Strong emphasis on live projects • Professional guest speaker programme • Time-based digital media • London – a designers resource • Portfolio building projects There is also the opportunity for overseas filed trips for students enrolled on the European Art History module
