Program Description:
The North Carolina Consortium Semester in Paris is a long-standing, high-quality academic program that takes full advantage of the opportunities in the City of Light. The program, which generally lasts for one semester but may be extended to a full academic year, is designed for students with second-year college level competency in French. The program is open to all majors.

Students accepted into the UNC Wilmington study abroad program with The North Carolina Consortium in Paris program will receive credit toward their degree requirement for most majors. All participants partake in intensive French language (9 credits) in the Cours de Civilisation Française at the Sorbonne as well as Explorations in French (3 credits) at the NC Paris program center, a short walk from the Sorbonne. Additional courses offered at the program center include; Gender & Sexuality in Post-Revolutionary France (fall semester only, 3 credits); Memory & Trauma in France after 1945 (spring semester only, 3 credits); history of French cinema (fall semester only, 3 credits); the history of European cinema (spring semester only, 3 credits); and Contemporary French Politics (both semesters, 3 credits).

This is a study abroad program, which means that the program, fee will be paid to UNCW. Total cost for the program includes tuition, insurance, lodging, breakfast, two dinners per week with your host family and some excursions. There will be additional costs for international airfare, passport and local transportation. Contact your Office of International Programs for the program fee.
Setting Description:
Located in the north of France, Paris is an ideal location from which to indulge in all that that Europe has to offer. With Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain just train rides away, students will have the opportunity to embrace a multitude of cultures. For those seeking a total immersion in French society and history, Paris offers access to numerous regional attractions including the Loire Castles, the villages of Giverny and Barbazons, as well as the Castle of Versaille where visitors may explore Marie Antoinette’s legendary hamlet.
