Program Description:
M Ed Educational Leadership & M Ed Educational Technology Leadership The Master of Education degrees are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The M Ed is a scholar-practitioner degree preparing professionals in P-16 school settings who understand and address school problems and are dedicated to improvement in learning of children and youth. The practitioner’s degree is a solid, rigorous academic program of coursework combined with practical experiences which include: • Teacher Leader • Instructional Technology • Media/Multimedia Development • Instructional Design & Interactive Instruction • Technology Planning & Leadership • Advanced Telecommunications/Distance Education • Research/Assessment/Evaluation • Internships in appropriate settings Graduates from the program will possess the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and other competencies necessary to fill leadership positions in P-16 school settings. Graduate Assistantships Graduate assistants are assigned to teaching, research, administrative, and professional activities. Stipends are awarded, and all few are waived, including out-of-state tuition. Graduate assistants are usually expected to render 12-20 hours of service each week. Application for assistantships should be made at the time of admission to the program. Admission Requirements Admission into each emphasis area is at the discretion of the Program Admissions Committee. In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission to the ULM Graduate School, the applicant must meet the following criteria: • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 • Total of 1875 points based upon the formula: 400 times undergraduate GPA plus the GRE score (V + Q) • Hold a valid teacher’s certificate • Pass state examinations where required
