Program Description:
India Studies Expose' will be conducted at St.Xavier's College from 25th July - 15th August 2012. This three week summer course intends to provide a wide exposure to undergraduate students on culture, history and the prevailing social scenario in the Indian Subcontinent from an urban perspective.

This summer course will introduce students to the following areas of study: *Ancient Indian culture. *History of India 10th century onward. *Art and Architecture of India. *Indian democracy & the Threats to it. *Indian Constitution. *Diversity / Multi-Culturalism. *Gender Issues. *Terrorism. *Bollywood-Film industry. *Journalism in Mumbai. *Family-run Businesses. *Micro finance for the poor. *Basic Hindi language course

Setting Description:
This summer course would consist of three credits covering about 45 contact hours in the classroom. The historical and cultural tours / excursions would be additional time spent in the field to provide a first hand exposure to India through the city of Mumbai and the neighboring region. Mumbai is India's financial capital and its largest metropolis.
