- 2 Intensive Months in Granada05/13/19
I took 2 months of intensive Spanish in Granada in April and May. I very much enjoyed this experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to progress their Spanish in a beautiful location. One of the highlights of the 2 months was my host mother.
She was incredible and was genuine and friendly and helpful every day and made me feel welcome. I never hesitated to ask her a question or ask for advice. She also fed me very well and made amazing Spanish food and never let me go hungry. Granada is a wonderful city and is in a great location for traveling to other regions of spain or different countries close by. Highly recommend this program.

I 100% recommend doing this!! Doing this intensive month increased my spanish skills greatly and also gave me more much needed time in this wonderful country. Also overall, I think I learned the most spanish and improved the most from this experience
specifically. If anything, I would even recommend doing intensive months the whole time that you are here because in my opinion, this would be the best way for you to improve your spanish skills.

This was my first time going abroad without family, or a friend. By going on this trip, and doing the things I did (traveling to different cities, countries, doing new things) I proved to myself that I can be independent. Not only that, but I also learned
to adapt; adapt to a new culture, lifestyle, food, mentality. After this experience I feel like I get to take home with me a deeper understanding and appreciation of culture, and widened perspective of the world and culture. This was by far the most worthwhile experience of my life! I would recommend going abroad with SOL to anyone who has a slight interest in learning more about the world.

Coming to Spain, I was traveling completely alone. I didn´t know anyone else coming to Spain and didn´t know anyone in the program. I was extremely nervous of course, but I decided to take a risk and go out of my comfort zone. It turned out being the
best decision I´ve ever made! I fell in love with my host family within the first week. My roomate had been to Spain a couple times before and had already been there for a week once I arrived, so she was extremely helpful and we became closer than I ever thought we would! I consider her one of my best friends now, and we have plans to visit each other back in the states! For classes, I tested into a level that I thought was too high for me, so I decided to move down a level. Some advice for future travelers: don´t be discouraged if you have to move down, because even if the level you move down to is a bit of review, it´s much better than feeling overwhelmed and frustrated in class. My first couple days in that level were stressful and I was dreading going to class. If you feel that way, move down! You´re in Spain, you should enjoy going to class everyday! And if you need to move up, don´t be scared to challenge yourself also. My Spanish has improved greatly ever since I´ve been here. I´m able to communicate with my host family much easier than before. I do wish that I would´ve spoken Spanish outside of my classes more. The SOL directors and my teachers encouraged us to do so, but we still spoke English when we went out. More advice for future students, PLEASE speak Spanish outside of class and speak to as many locals as you can!!! It´s the BEST way to learn the language. Overall, my experience was amazing and I will recommend SOL to ALL of my friends wanting to study abroad!!!

I had an incredible time in the Intensive Program in Granada, Spain. The classes were amazing-- I loved my teachers and my Spanish grew exponentially in just three months. I also had an amazing experience with my host family and will miss them all a lot.
They made sure I was welcome and happy here in Spain. I am so glad I got to study in Granada: of all places I have visited in Spain, it is still my favorite. It is such a young, fun, and beautiful place to be and to explore. The program in general was very well run and organized, and I felt like I had freedom to do my own thing but also loved the guided excursions they offered. Overall, I had an amazing experience!!

- SOL Study Abroad - Granada, Spain04/25/18
My experience with SOL study abroad in Granada, Spain was a positive one. I think Granada is the perfect place for students who prefer a "small big city". It´s really easy to navigate the city and interaction with other students on campus as well as
at the language exchanges is beneficial to students learning Spanish. There are many city wide activities available for students to do.

My experience with SOL in Granada was incredible. I truly felt immersed in the culture and language, as my host parents only spoke Spanish, and my host mother cooked excellent traditional dishes often. Also, the excursions were always worth while and
very informative. I felt as though they hit all of the high points of the region (Andalusia), and that they were well organized and fun. The program directors (Edu, German, and Miguel) were excellent as well. They were all very knowledgeable and always willing to help. I feel as though my needs and preferences were well considered in reference to my host family and roommate. I definitely made lasting relationships with all of them.
