Program Description:

Art History in Paris is a six-week program led by faculty from the Rutgers Art History Department. This program is taught entirely on-site - you’ll either be standing in front of works of art and architecture, or out on the city streets. Through the study of monuments, architecture, and the urban landscape, you will learn about the history and art of Paris from the time of the Ancient Romans to present day.

"• Get a behind the scene tour of some of Paris’ most famous museums like the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay. • Experience the extravagantly decorated Palace of Versailles and wander through its celebrated gardens. • Watch a demonstration of stained glass making at the International Stained-Glass Centre, located near the famous Chatres Cathedral. • Attend tours and lectures led by Parisian museum curators and expert Rutgers Art History professors. "

Setting Description:

Paris, City of Light is not only the capital of a major European power, but home to a multicultural population ranging from movie moguls to municipal workers.  It's both a museum city and a monumental architectural experiment where, in half an hour, you can walk from Roman ruins, past the 12th-century cathedral of Notre Dame, to the 21st-century Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
