What will volunteers do? In the mornings, volunteers will execute an English immersion summer camp for three hours each weekday morning in a rural community outside of town. Campers will be members of Project Esperanza’s grassroots school, who are primarily Haitian immigrant children ages 3 to 16. In the afternoons, volunteers will work with community members to construct human compost toilets and create container gardens for each of the 173 households. On the weekends volunteers will visit other Project Esperanza sites and have time for the beach, 27 waterfalls, and other recreational activities.

Setting Description:
Where will voluteers stay? In a safe and comfortable building about 30 ft. from the batey community and school. Meals will be cooked for volunteers at the building. Volunteers should be prepared to stay in bunks with a shared bathroom that does not have hot water.
