Program Overview

Program Description:

Students in the Early Childhood Education B.A. program at Pacific Oaks will gain skills and strategies necessary to provide an optimal learning environment for children from birth to age 8.

The Early Childhood Education program teaches students how to nurture each individual child's cognitive development while also guiding each child through the emergence of abilities in language, motor skills, problem solving, and psychosocial learning. Actively engaged students of the Early Childhood Education program will master the ability to tailor learning experiences to the diverse cultural needs of all children, and will come to appreciate the individual differences and values that each child and family has to offer.

Students may also choose to complete the dual credential, which qualifies them to teach general education students on a variety of subjects as well as students in grades K-12 with mild to moderate disabilities. While in the B.A. program, students may also integrate specific specialized practicum and elective coursework to meet course requirements for the California Preliminary Multiple Subject (MSEL) Teaching Credential.
