Program Overview

Program Description:
This course explores the rich natural history of East Africa, including the wildlife found in its various habitats, and introduces students to some traditional cultures and their relationships with these animals. Participants meet with local conservation leaders to learn more about Kenya’s ongoing efforts to conserve its unique wildlife and how they compare to other African countries.

A research paper is due via e-mail five days prior to the trip, and an oral presentation is required while in Africa. A reflection paper based on the students’ journal keeping on the trip as well as demonstrated cooperation and motivation compose the rest of the grade.

Costs include 4 credits, airfare, airport taxes, accommodations, and all meals.
Setting Description:
Students travel to Nairobi, Ambos Eli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Masai Mara National Reserve.
