Program Overview

Program Description:
Become a volunteer in Peru this Spring break and work with a number of our community projects that have asked for help with refurbishment this Spring. The schools and child care centres that receive teaching and child care volunteers throughout the year have tired and run down facilities that with a coat of paint and some cheerful murals can provide a better environment for the children of these homes and classrooms.

You will arrive on the Sunday and receive your orientation on Monday before being introduced to your project. Working from Tuesday to Friday, you will round your week off with a full day tour of the Sacred Valley.

These projects that Kaya work with year-round have identified this time as a great opportunity to renovate the spaces used for local children's education and entertainment. Just a small effort from volunteers during this week can make a huge difference on the attitudes of the staff and children year round, lifting their spirits with a little TLC.
Setting Description:
Declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO Cusco is the archaeological capital of the Americas and the oldest continuously inhabited city on the continent, near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range. Its legacy as the seat of the Inca Empire is readily apparent. Many of the city streets are lined with original stone walls and crowded with Quechua-speaking descendants of the Incas.
