Program Overview

Program Description:
The key feature of the Commerce and International Business studies is a strong orientation towards real-life topics and problem-solving approaches, development of analytical and communication skills. Taught subjects are devised in such a way as to ensure active learning both of the conveyed knowledge and of the essential skills. Weekly class time is typically divided into formal lectures and seminars or tutorials. In addition to the class time, students are expected to undertake independent study preparing for lectures and seminars: doing homework, preparing class presentations, carrying out research assignments and writing essays. During the last year of studies all undergraduate students are required to complete a minimum of 12 weeks practice placement or Commerce and International Business simulation such as, International Corporate Management (ICM) and Extended International Corporate Management (EICM), gaining experience of putting the gained skills into practice and building upon the obtained knowledge and abilities. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and International Business A degree course for the future, prepared for the professionals of the future. At a time when internationalization is the main motto of the national economy, the ISCEE, by its long experience and know-how, often retains the responsibility to prepare the best professionals to manage international investments and foreign trade. The new Degree program of Commerce and International Business will respond to an increasing demand for qualified and competent professionals to act in a globalized and highly competitive market. The degree in Commerce and International Business at ISCEE will provide both theoretical and practical bases and, using simulators, develop promotional actions of national production, also acting at the level of operationalization, logistics, documentation of goods, strategies to internationalization and contracting. Career Prospects The graduates in Commerce and International Business will have the skills necessary to work in: • Institutions for the promotion of foreign trade; • Organisms of Public Administration; • National and international financial institutions • Management of Commercial Department and international markets • Management of logistics and Freight forwarding activities
Setting Description:
Destination surveys show that graduates of Commerce and International Business studies have good career opportunities in finance and insurance, trade and marketing, human resource management, e-business, private or public management in general. Many of programme graduates start up their own business ventures. Independent surveys and interviews indicate clearly that employers in different areas of labour market value students that have successfully complete our International Business programme. While most of our programme graduates enter the world of business either still studying or immediately after graduating, the sufficiently strong academic backing of the programme enables students to pursue Master degree either in Cape Verde or abroad.
