Program Overview
- Program Description:
- Design and deliver a school-vacation environmental program in the Galapagos. During their school vacation, about 50 children ages 10-14 of Isla Isabela participate in a day camp sponsored by the National Park. Volunteers are needed to design and plan the program during throughout January, then carry out the program as teachers and counselors in February and March every year. Support and guidance will be provided by National Park and IOI staff.

Environmental Education in the Galapagos Islands: Description: Design and deliver environmental program during school vacation in the Galapagos Islands. During school holidays, about 50 children between the ages of 10-14 Isabela participate in a day camp sponsored by the National Park. Volunteers are needed to design and plan the program in January, and then carry out the program as teachers and counselors during February and early March. Support and guidance will be provided by park staff and certified American teacher. Main functions: 1. Become familiar with the natural and educational resources of Isabela Island. 2. In consultation with staff, write programming to five weeks of days 6 hours. 3. The programming must be active more than academic. 4. Act as a teacher / counselor for a group of about 15 students during the five-week program. Requirements: Degree in Environmental Education and Outdoor Recreation. Bilinguel in Spanish or native language. Experience working with pre-teens or middle school children.
