Program Overview

Program Description:

As a global and historic city with internship placements in finance, start-ups, the arts, and more, Rome is the perfect place for your semester-long internship abroad. With IES Internships, you are guaranteed an unpaid, for-credit, 14-week internship placement of at least 25 hours per week in a business or organization that suits your career goals. Build a global network of professional contacts and gain real-world experience all while exploring everything that Rome has to offer.

While in Rome, you’ll live other IES Abroad interns in fully-furnished apartments, well-located in central Rome. You’ll also enroll in our required 3-credit internship seminar where you’ll discuss cultural issues in the workplace. On the weekends, join IES Abroad-organized field trips that take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of Italy. Imagine exploring the Tuscan countryside, visiting a local wine producer on the Amalfi Coast, and touring the sites of the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. All of this – and more – awaits you in Rome.

Founded in 1950, IES Abroad is a global, not-for-profit study abroad organization with 125+ academic programs in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America. To learn more about what we offer visit our website.

Setting Description:
There’s no place like Rome. With its abundant architectural and artistic riches, Rome celebrates more than 2,500 years of history. Think about it: you will be enveloped in the Roman past—the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter’s Basilica—while enjoying all of the modern-day cultural jewels that the city has to offer. Why wait a minute longer? Indulge in Rome’s splendor—and did we mention the food?—as soon as possible.
