Program Overview

Program Description:
Take two weeks to find your passion. Human Connections, a social business based in Mexico, is hosting a two-week intensive externship ideal for those already committed to or seriously interested in the social sector. This Externship provides professional training through collaborative projects with Mexican micro-entrepreneurs. It also allows students to work with non-profit and social business leaders for a hands-on analysis of local development strategies.

Specific externship projects include working on a team with small business owners to help them increase sales, teaching a class to local vendors, and even evaluating how Human Connections can increase our efficiency and social impact. Students will also learn about non-profit/social business management and the advantages and challenges of working in this field.

If you are looking for a way to take your social sector skills to the next level, we invite you to apply for a position with Human Connections this winter break. This two week program is designed to make you a more attractive candidate for any social sector position in your future.
Setting Description:
The location of the externship is difficult to beat. Human Connections is based in one of Mexico’s premiere vacation destinations: the Riviera Nayarit. On the coast of the sparkling Bay of Banderas, the Riviera Nayarit is just north of Puerto Vallarta (a spring break favorite). Human Connections leverages the popularity of the region by connecting tourists with local entrepreneurs to help grow small, Mexican-owned businesses. It's also just a great place to live!
Cost:
The cost of the program is $1600, and includes local, safe hotel accommodations, 24/7 support prior to and during the program, local transportation, intensive professional trainings, 7 group meals, excursions to unique destinations, regular internet and telephone access, guided tours of local communities, talks by renowned experts, a valuable, hands-on professional experience, and a chance to make a direct contribution to the lives of local community members.
