Program Description:

Mexico’s Mesoamerican coral reef is abundant with marine life and is the perfect location to further your diving qualification and contribute to the environment. Apart from gaining your PADI Advanced Divers, you can look forward to monitoring the overall health of the reef and you will contribute to coral reef and fish monitoring. Our volunteers develop an impressive knowledge of this incredible underwater environment. Immerse yourself in the Mexican culture as you embark on the volunteer adventure of a lifetime. Volunteering with GVI not only allows you to participate and make a meaningful impact while assisting disadvantaged communities or endangered ecosystems, but it also offers fantastic opportunities to travel and explore the local area. 

Setting Description:
Our projects in Mexico are located in Pez Maya and Playa del Carmen, located along the Yucatan Peninsula. These areas are home to remote jungles and stunning tropical beaches. Our bases are situated along this beautiful peninsula past white sands, palm trees and deep blue waters.

Additional Program Information

Participants need to be qualified to at least PADI Open Water, or equivalent before starting the program. A background and passion for marine conservation and environmental awareness is also beneficial. Students must also speak English and be physically and mentally fit to live in this remote location.
Scholarships Description:
Only National Scholarship Programs. Scholarships offered to the native people of the country where the program takes place.
