- The objective of the BA. International Fashion Design is the practical training of highly qualified designers, who select their vocational fields according to talent and inclination from the broad range of careers available in the fashion and clothing industry.
The current professional activities of fashion managers on the labour market are in all areas of the fashion, clothing and media industries. In addition, this study programme also qualifies for activities in adjacent areas, such as costume and accessory design, fashion consulting, merchandising, PR- und advertising, fashion and product management, industrial design, product design or in the area of fashion journalism.
With its multi-faceted range of courses, oriented towards cutting-edge technical and scientific developments, the BA. International Fashion Design takes account of the dynamic processes inherent in the information and knowledge society of the 21st century.
All graduates are fundamentally and skillfully prepared for the start of their careers. They acquire so-called meta-competencies, which are rated highly as key competences in terms of orientation on the vocational field and employment market.
Above all, competences, such as self-sufficient organising and management, capacity for teamwork, research and analysis capabilities, conceptional and creative thinking, social competence, practically oriented innovational competence as well as the ability to critically evaluate one’s own and others’ performances.
These competences are promoted on the one hand textually with an increased understanding of media, communication and socio-cultural foundations, methods and know-how in complex design projects, and on the other the students are shown new, media-assisted teaching-learning and collaboration methods via inter and transdisciplinary offerings.
The cooperation with external institutes, companies, universities and networks underline our course offerings.
Along with the subject-specific orientation of the Bachelor studies, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity are understood as essential elements of the design process and consequently applied in an interdisciplinary manner.
The international character of the Fashion Design Institut is reflected in the curriculum-based practical phases of the students.

With reference to Fashion Design, exceptional artistic talent is required. Internships are designed to enable students to put theory into practice and gain new experience. When applying for an internship, international contacts established at trade fairs, shows and exhibitions along with short-term internships at home and abroad prove particularly helpful. BA. INTERNATIONAL FASHION DESIGN Each student must complete a 6-month internship after the 5th semester. This internship must have a minimum duration of 4 months and take place abroad.
