- Shanghai is the world's busiest cargo port and home to an incredible number of businesses of all sorts. Interns can gain experience in almost any field of international business including import/export, finance, marketing, logistics, consulting, inside sales, human resources, research and more. Interns work within companies and find themselves part of the day to day operations, attending meetings, conducting research, assisting with translation, meeting clients, and working on projects. Almost all business internships offer stipends for participants who commit to at least three months.Some of the organizations accepting international interns may offer monthly stipends to offset the costs of living in Shanghai. To qualify for a position offering a stipend, interns must commit to at least 12 weeks with the program. The amount of the stipend varies, but it is usually enough to cover the cost of rent.

In-country Staff Support: ELI's coordinator in Shanghai has years of experience working with international interns. He is very resourceful and on call 24/7 in case of emergency. Accommodations: Participants have a choice of accommodation including private apartments, shared apartments, and host families. Interns can choose the accommodation that best suits their individual needs.
