Program Overview

Program Description:
The summer intensive language program in Granada is open to students of all levels, including beginners. Quickly improve your Spanish reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities in this concentrated program. Only Central College Abroad offers small tutoring sessions in our Granada center along with several cross-cultural sessions to help you understand different aspects of the culture of Spain and Granada, such as bull-fighting, politics and government, olive oil industry, etc. We also include reflective sessions about the immersion experience.

The intensive language program is aimed at linguistic and social immersion using your own personal experiences. Students receive four hours of instruction daily. Tutoring services are available upon request. Classes are held at the University of Granada's Center for Modern Languages, a modern facility which is equipped with language laboratories, a library, video rooms, lounges, study areas, and a café. The center is housed in the restored Palacio de Santa Cruz in the heart of the old city of Granada. The Central College on-site director has her office in the same building.

In addition to overnight trips to the cities of Cordoba and Nerja, you will visit nearby sites to view the art and culture of Granada. Setting Description:
The city of Granada is home to more than 50,000 university students and offers many cultural, athletic and social activities. With a population of 300,000, the city has tree-shaded public squares, cobble-stoned pedestrian streets, and is dominated by the magnificent hilltop palace of the medieval Arab rulers of Granada, the Alhambra. The mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the beaches of the Mediterranean are both less than an hour away by public transportation.
