Program Overview

Program Description:

Our two programs in Valparaíso focus on the Spanish language and Chilean culture, while allowing you to enroll in a variety of electives. Choose between the Spanish Language & Latin American Studies program or Advanced Chilean Immersion, and study alongside Chilean and other international students at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso.

PUCV ranks in the top 30 Latin American universities and hosts more than 14,000 students annually, including international students from around the world. The main campus in Valparaíso gives students access to the downtown area, the city’s metro, and the Pacific Ocean. The university is nationally recognized for its academics and research programs in science, engineering, humanities, and the arts.

Semester students typically enjoy three complementary excursions to local attractions, while summer students go on two. Take a horseback ride through the Chilean countryside or experience the beautiful botanical gardens in nearby Viña del Mar. Cultural engagement activities give you the opportunity to explore Chilean culture firsthand through visits to Caleta Horcon, Pablo Neruda’s House and Museum in Isla Negra, Mapuche Ruca, and a tour of the Casablanca Wineries.

CEA makes sure your housing, health, safety, social engagement, and other needs are taken care of. Giving you the best possible study abroad experience is our top priority.
