- Costa Rica — an Adventure I Will Never Forget11/09/18
This trip was such a great learning experience for me. I have wanted to go into medicine since I was four, but this was really my first time doing anything medical. Not only was the setting beautiful and fascinating, but the clinic that we work in is
truly outstanding. Being a part of the staff that works there is such a exceptional opportunity, and I learned so much from them. Besides the knowledge of medicine you gain from the professionals at the clinic, almost every day there is a lesson taught to the group by one of the instructors. These lessons are so well thought out, and so fun, that they don’t really feel like lessons! Most of them are about some sort of health, or health in Costa Rica but there are also a few where you talk specifically about some aspect of medicine. I learned so much from all of the educational opportunities on this trip, but I also learned about Costa Rica’s culture, ecosystem, and more. You eat and experience a lot of Costa Rica, and meet some inspiring people along the way! I loved this program, and all the people I there.read moreBottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
- Intro to Medicine Costa Rica 12 day Adventure10/17/18
My first day in Costa Rica I did not know what expect. Meeting all new people for the first time was nerve racking but I knew that I would at least share one thing in common with them; our love for medicine. Stepping off the plane and meeting the other
teenagers I would be spending the next 12 days with was exciting. I was apprehensive as to what the next few days would hold. By that night, all of us had become good friends. Waking up the next morning we started off the day early by going white water rafting. Followed by that I had an amazing experience to try some traditional Costa Rican food. Everyone on the trip loved the food. Even if you are a picky eater, there is something for everyone. Working in the clinic in Costa Rica was an eye opener. Everyday you would switch off shifts doing either pharmacy, exam room, waiting room, or psychology work. The families and children I interacted that week have shown me a different way of life. I am grateful for this experience because medicine is something I want to pursue in and learning how clinics are run in another country is interesting. If you are interested in medicine this program is for you! Every day the leaders would teach us a lesson about medicine. While you are experiencing it for yourself at the clinic, you are also learning at the same time!read moreBottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
