Program Description:

Smolny College is a joint enterprise between Bard College and St. Petersburg State University, and it is Russia's first liberal arts college. North American students can choose to enroll in Russian language courses with Russian students from among 12 major and eight minor programs in the social sciences, arts and humanities.

Since 1997, Smolny College has sought to contribute to the democratization of Russian higher education, and to serve as a model for a new kind of international education.

Our alumni often leave Smolny with near fluency in Russian, and a large percentage of our graduates go on to receive graduate degrees in Slavic disciplines. Take advantage of this opportunity to study in one of Russia's most exciting educational institutions!

Setting Description:

St.Petersburg is Russia's historic gateway to the West, and one of Europe's most beautiful cities. While academically rigorous, Smolny promotes students' engagement with the arts and history of St. Petersburg, Russia's cultural capital.
