Program Overview

Program Description:

Spend your summer journeying from the Scottish Highlands to the English countryside with AIFS’ 3-credit British Fantasy Literature study and travel program! This course is taught in English by faculty from Richmond, the American International University in London.

You will live in student residences in Edinburgh and London and share double rooms in tourist-class hotels during the traveling portion of the program. Breakfast is included throughout, as well as 4 group meals.

This program is packed with excursions to locations that inspired Shakespeare, J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and J.K. Rowling (to name a few). Some included tours and excursions will be to: Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlands, Alnwick Castle, Stonehenge, Glastonbury Abbey, Oxford and Harry Potter’s Great Hall, the British Library, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater and more.

Setting Description:
Several locations in Scotland and England are covered during the tour, from dramatic mountain peaks and valley vistas to the hustle and bustle of the city of London. Beginning in the charming city of Edinburgh, you'll immerse yourself in the sights and sounds that inspired some of the most enduring characters and stories of our time.
Cost:
AIFS is a premier provider of study abroad programs. Program fees cover tuition and housing, and over 50% of our study abroad participants receive financial support from AIFS in the form of scholarships or grants. A meal plan, tours and excursions, insurance, and 24-hour emergency service are also included. Coordinated AIFS Flight Packages with major airlines are also available.

Requirements:
Open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Minimum 2.5 GPA required (lower GPAs will be considered on a case by case basis).
