Austria sits in the heart of Europe, and has historically been a crossroads for communication in Europe. Its citizens are known for their Gemutlichkeit-their characteristic way of taking things easy. One way they relax is by skiing; there are more than 1700km of ski slopes in the Austrian Alps It's even possible to ski in summer! Austria offers different types of extra curricular. Possible things you could do while schooling in Austria are choir, a variety of team sports, theater, soccer, and you may also go on ski trips with your class. This doesn't specifically mean that if the activity isn't listed it doesn't exist. When schooling in Austria, classes may be different. For example German is a mandatory class in Austria. Besides classes, the grading system which is used in Austria is different compared to the one typically used in the U.S. take a look below and see how they grade their student! Outstanding: 1 Good: 2 Average: 3 Poor: 4 Failing: 5

Colleges recommend high school study abroad experiences - as these programs provide the opportunity to develop confidence and self-reliance before pursuing higher education. In addition, after exploring the world you may have a clearer vision of what you'd like to study in college. As a result, you may spend less time switching majors, which means you'll save time and money. An exchange program also boosts college applications and gives you an immediate advantage when applying for scholarships.

Plus, the language skills you develop on an AFS program might exempt you from required language courses, thus enabling you to finish college sooner. Some students have received as much as 18 hours language credit-almost enough to provide a minor in language and a huge financial savings when you figure the cost of credits.
Setting Description:
