- Program Description:
- Africa Atlantic is a private commercial farming venture located on the shores of Lake Volta. Africa Atlantic is working through and within local communities and partnering with key organizations to build on and expand the critical knowledge base required for sustainable change and success.
This internship is open to students with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, International Development, Social Work, Anthropology, Communications, Sociology, and/or English is preferred (other disciplines will be considered). Applicants should have experience working with and/or teach children, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Tasks include (but are not limited to): Teach and Tutor in classes K-6 on designated subjects Assist with English language learning and development to help students meet national educational standards Create interactive and culturally appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote a learner centered environment Support the social impact projects and programs related to the school and ensure student, parent and community participation.
- Setting Description:
- Candidates should keep in mind that the location which they will be working in is extremely remote, and must be willing to spend long hours in a rural primary school and to travel by foot, bicycle and boat as needed. Candidates should be fluent in English. A minimum 4-month commitment is required.
- Cost:
- All placement programmes are $180 per week, and for placements that are 6 weeks or less, there is a flat fee of $1080 for Ghana This fee covers: Utilities. Accommodation. Programme administration costs. Daily breakfast and dinner. A one-day Orientation in your placement destination. This fee does NOT include: Transport to and from the ACIPP house to your workplace.
