Program Overview
- Program Description:
Volunteering projects in Africa (Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda) and Asia (China, India, Nepal and Thailand).
Wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange whilst helping and living in the community for periods varying from five weeks to five months. The longer projects are followed by an optional period of independent group travel, all with 24/7 support from our local management teams.
Spare time:
Spare time in the evening or at weekends is spent exploring the locality with your volunteer partner.
Accommodation:
You and your partner(s) will live with the locals as they live. You will be quite independent but be right in the community. You have your own space and ‘facilities’. It is basic i.e. intermittent electricity, so you will quickly adjust to this simple way of life.
A Day in the Life of a Volunteer:
You will start your day early. You will help children of primary and secondary school age to read, write and speak English - and get involved with other subjects if you so wish. There is also time for sports, art, dance, drama - and anything else you want to get up to! The more you put in, the more you will get out of your project.
Our volunteer projects are a great way to improve your skills and enhance your CV - stand out from the crowd at job interviews! It is a competitive market out there - help others to help yourself!
Project dates - Jan / Feb to May / June; April / May to August / Sept; July to Aug; and Aug to Dec.
As we are a not-for-profit social enterprise, volunteers need to meet the costs of their time on project and these start from GB£1,645 - covers pre-departure information, online health check with InterHealth, full briefing and a face to face meeting, orientation on arrival, accommodation and basic food allowance during your volunteer placement and 24/7 in-country back up from our local management teams.
