Program Overview

Program Description:
Study of the influences of tradition and technology will also be undertaken in each area of emphasis through visits to influential design studios, designer showrooms and manufacturers. Program participants will also visit significant architectural sites as well as museums in each city to further gain a meaningful overview of influences on contemporary German and Italian design. An emphasis will also be placed on the everyday activities of the people of each culture and how we as outsiders relate to them in their workplaces and in other public places.

The purpose of the program, Art and Photography in Europe Summer 2015, is to provide students with a thorough immersion into contemporary German, Dutch and Italian design with emphases on product, furniture, and transportation design, branding and type design, contemporary art and architecture and photography.

Program Fee:
The program fee includes three credit hours of undergraduate tuition and fees, accommodations, ground transportation, cultural activities, some group meals, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation services, KU orientation, and administrative costs.
Additional costs:Airfare, most meals, passport fees, books, and personal expenses.
