- A Truly Life-Changing Experience01/15/18
Harlaxton was a dream. I lived in a castle for four months, and spent my weekends (every weekend is at least a 3-day weekend) traveling to new countries. The program is perfect because you are living, going to class, eating, socializing, etc, all in one
building (or castle). The program is entirely U.S. students, so the environment is very comfortable. The program also provides so many cultural opportunities, from day trips to local towns to the meet-a-family experience that partners students with couples in town. At the manor, there are inter-murals, house competitions (think Harry Potter), and more. Classes are great, not too hard but definitely very interesting to learn about subjects like history from a U.K. perspective. As for travel, students can either go with the school on pre-arranged trips or travel independently. The entire thing was an amazing opportunity. I grew so much and was able to leave my comfort zone to discover new cultures, meet new people, and try new things. It was a once in a lifetime experience, every day I am still wishing I could go back!

The University of Evansville has created a program that gives you the freedom to travel, study, and grow both in and outside of your comfort zone. I was able to finish my third clinical of my doctorate physical therapy program in England thanks to this
program and the amazing faculty who worked tirelessly to make my dream a reality. I was able to work and learn in a new environment and travel and enjoy all the beauty and history that can be found in Europe. So many students have walked the halls of the manor and have left tips and pointers for solo and group travels. Once you’ve started to travel you will never want to stop - Harlaxton is a great starting point for a life of adventure.

Harlaxton offers a class structure and scheduling that allows students to become more immersed in British culture while being free to travel throughout Europe. During my time at Harlaxton I was able to visit London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Munich, Zurich,
Dublin, Brussels, Paris, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Athens, Santorini, Venice, Florence, Rome, and England's Lake District. Harlaxton provides many opportunities to meet members of the local community, grow closer to other Harlaxton students, and experience personal growth. Harlaxton has allowed me to create and maintain friendships with people all over the globe, grow as an individual, and gain a deeper understanding of my place in the world. The four months I spent in Grantham will be something I will never forget.

Spending 5 weeks in a beautiful manor felt more like a fairytale than I could have ever imagined. I wish I had just one more week to wander through Harlaxton manor. Traveling to 6 different countries in 6 weeks was and exhausting but enriching experience
and it opened my eyes to so many things about myself and the world.
