Program Description:

Latin in Rome seeks intermediate and advanced students of Latin who desire to refine and deepen their understanding of the language and the Romans who spoke it. The program includes lectures by university faculty who have lived and taught in Rome, daily language tutorials and group discussions of texts, as well as visits to historical sites and museums.

Participants will study several passages from Cicero, Pliny, Virgil, Horace and Livy to enhance visits to sites in Rome and Naples. Students will also read selected literature in translation to support travels in and around Rome.

This program is not simply a summer tour, but a college-level Latin course. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive three hours of college credit.

Setting Description:
The Eugene Constantin Rome Campus is located in Due Santi ("The Two Saints"), a historic district south of Rome that was named in honor of Saints Peter and Paul. The ten-acre campus is some 22 km (13.5 miles) southeast of Rome on the Via Appia Nuova.
Cost:
3330 USD. The total program cost covers tuition, and travel, documentation fees, room and board in Rome and "on the road", as well as all museum fees and entry passes to historical sites. With the exception of no more than a few lunches on extended tours, all meals are provided, including a pool party on campus and a farewell dinner in Rome.
