Program Description:
Each summer John Cabot University's Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation hosts Summer Writers in Residence. Courses are taught by renowned faculty from the United States, Italy, and Europe. Past Writers in Residence include Billy Collins, Joyce Carol Oates, and Jhumpa Lahiri.

The Institute has quickly become a thriving community of writers in Rome. The Institute's reading series has featured such luminaries as Kim Addonizio, Marianne Boruch, Peter Campion, Kevin Craft, Eliza Griswold, Joseph Harrison, Jay Hopler, Kimberly Johnson, Richard Kenney, Brad Leithauser, Robert Polito, Mary Jo Salter, and Edmund White.

With workshops in the major genres (Fiction, Poetry, Creative Nonfiction) and Literary Translation offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms, the Institute is the place for creative writing students to spend serious time on their writing as they get to know the Eternal City. John Cabot University study abroad students contribute to building a global community and gain an international perspective for the real diversity each of us brings to JCU in Rome.

Student will enjoy a wide variety of on-campus and off-campus events, including 13 clubs that focus on cultural and social awareness, participating in community service outings, weekend trips of educational travel throughout Italy, and athletics!

Setting Description:
John Cabot University’s campus is situated in the charming neighborhood of Trastevere in the historic center of the city. All important Roman attractions are within a short walking distance from campus. Campus facilities include the recently renovated library, beautiful terraces and courtyards, Wi-Fi in all buildings, studio art facilities, computer labs, a cafeteria, and fitness center.

Term: Summer I 2017 (application deadline: April 1, 2017)
3 credits: $4,700 for 1 course plus housing
6 credits: $6,300 for 2 courses plus housing

Term: Summer II 2017 (application deadline: May 1, 2017)
3 credits: $4,700 for 1 course plus housing
6 credits: $6,300 for 2 courses plus housing

Term: Fall 2017 (Application deadline: May 15, 2017)
10-17 credit hours plus housing: $16,750

Term: Spring 2018 (Application deadline: June 1, 2018)
