Program Overview

Program Description:
The European Cultural History Program offers an interdisciplinary approach to university study abroad, with experiential learning in major cultural and historical sites in England, France, Germany, and Italy. Instructional delivery is designed to integrate teaching with site visits. Class sessions are usually scheduled around or during the program activities. Lectures are held during museum visits and on sites, thus, providing students with direct experience and unforgettable class sessions.

The Cultural History Programs are a truly unique travel-study programs. Cultural performances are included in the program fee as well as museum tickets and visits to sites. All lodging, welcome and departure meals and select special dinners are included in the program cost. The program fee includes all program city-to-city travel by train. All faculty members on the Cultural History Programs hold Ph.D.s or M.F.A.s from leading universities.
Setting Description:
Since these programs travel to many cities in Southeast Asia and China they provide a unique opportunity for dialogue between students and faculty to experience travel and program activities. All members of the group travel together, stay in the accommodations provided by the program, and participate in program activities together. The Cultural History Programs provide the opportunity for students to gain both experiential and academic knowledge of the cultures visited during the program.
Cost:
The program fee is $3,800 plus airfare to London and return from Rome, plus tuition. (EMU students receive a discount)
