Program Overview

Program Description:

Over a three week period, you will make your way from northern to southern Italy, visiting the cities, countryside, beach, and numerous historical landmarks. You’ll learn about Italian culture, history, and modern life in English as you experience first-hand the sites that have shaped your studies in this course. Location based – Known for its delicious cuisine, vibrant culture, and rich history, Italy will provide a vibrant backdrop to the Taste of Italy program. As you head South from Northern Italy, you will stop to explore some of Italy’s most well-known cities, landmarks, and natural landscapes. Academic Based – Take your classroom on tour. Every 1-3 days you will travel to a new destination, as you earn six credits in Italian Civilization and Culture from Florence University of the Arts. Italy will become your living classroom as you see and learn first hand the deep history and stories this country has to offer. La Vida Local – Let the history books come alive when you visit architectural landmarks, famous cathedrals, art museums, vineyards, the coast, urban fashion districts, infamous Mt. Vesuvius, and, of course, the Vatican.

Learn and identify the local character and diversity of each Italian Region Peek into the world of Italian glamour when you visit the Fashion and Design districts in Milan Hike up Mount Vesuvius in historical Pompeii See and learn first hand the processes for making olive oil process in Valpolicella and winemaking in Tuscan vineyard Tour the Colosseum and St. Peter’s Square and Basilica while in Rome Embark on a Bike Tour to Forte dei Marmi and visit the weekly outdoor market End your journey in Florence, where you can opt to take an additional 3 week, 3 credit session at the Florence University of the Arts campus!
 

Setting Description:
The rich history, diverse landscapes, and regional cuisines of Italy is what you will experience in this travel intensive 3 week program! Expect to experience Italy like a local, and appreciate the notable differences between regions.
