Named for pioneering early New South Wales governor Lachlan Macquarie, the university is ranked among the top 2% in the world with a 5-star QS rating and 100% of its research is ranked at world standard or above.  It has a population of 40,000 students, 7,000 of whom are international.

Macquarie is located within commuting distance of the Central Business District, on a lush campus with a commitment to sustainability and plenty of green space.  There are over 120 societies and 35 sporting clubs open for you to join.

Outstanding facilities, including Australia’s first and only private, not-for-profit hospital on a university campus, a state-of-the-art library, a sport and aquatic center, and an on-campus railway station ensure that you’re well-connected and well-served. Sydney is only 30 minutes away by train.
