Our high school program is designed for students aged 14 to 18 to learn Chinese while participating in a homestay. Students will study Chinese in quality language programs catered to teenage learners, and at the same time, they will stay with a Chinese family with a resident teenager. These families are specially selected for hosting teenagers. In the families, students will be taken good care of and experience full immersion in the language and culture. Our program features a variety of activities, including cultural activities, volunteer events and weekend excursions provided by Lotus and host families.

Year: Students participating on the AFS Year Program to China are pioneers in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While your host school provides one or two months specially arranged intensive Chinese culture and language classes, you will live with a typical Chinese family, learn to speak Mandarin, share meals together, and gain an intimate understanding of Chinese life that few foreign visitors experience. School uniforms are required and classes are lecture style, with required classes in Mandarin, math, science, and physical education. While schoolwork can be rigorous, extracurricular activities will prove rich and equally rewarding. All these activities will help you develop a unique understanding of today's Chinese society.
