Study Abroad in Spain

Spain is consistently one of the most popular destinations to study abroad and a land steeped in romance. In all the world, there are precious few countries whose very name conjures up such images of lust, romance, history, fabulous food, and adventure. Amazingly, this reputation is completely justified. From the grand plazas of Madrid to the nightclubs of Barcelona to the wholly different culture of the Basque region, Spain is a land steeped in history and sure to cause even the most jaded traveler to stop and pause in wonder.

A Rich and Diverse Culture

Taking up the majority of the Iberian peninsula, Spain is located between Portugal and France via land borders and is a mere 14 kilometers across the Strait of Gibraltar from Morocco in North Africa. Therefore, it should be of no surprise that Spanish history and culture have been greatly influenced by both the other cultures of Western Europe as well as those of North Africa, particularly the Moors. Today, however, Spain is known for its own decidedly unique culture, and it is this as much as any other aspect of the country that lures travelers year after year.

A Great Destination for Study Abroad

Spain has hundreds of interesting cities. Some of the major travel destinations include the capital Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Cordoba, Toledo, Segovia, Salamanca, Valencia and Granada. With great beaches, fun nightlife, many cultural regions, beautiful national parks, traditional festivals and historic cities, Spain makes a great destination for study abroad or any kind of trip.

Spain has so much to offer and is so full of excitement that very few people find it possible to go just once and then move on to the next destination. So consider yourself warned: Once Spain has its hooks in you, you may never want to travel anywhere else.
