Program Description:
This 2-year program offers training as a researcher in the area of theoretical and applied linguistics. The program focuses on the integrated study of language system and language use. This means that we teach not only the different subdisciplines of formal linguistics, we also devote attention to the relations between linguistics, the cognitive sciences, anthropology, and communication theory. There is a cooperation with LOT, the Dutch national graduate school in linguistics, in which the Vrije Universiteit participates. The program Linguistics offers you a Multimedia Lab, an extensive linguistics library as part of the University Library (with reading rooms). An on-line connection to all other university libraries of the Netherlands, and an Inter-Library Loan Service.
