Program Overview

Program Description:
The Program in Ecology (PiE) is an interdisciplinary doctoral program focusing on the scientific study of the relations between organisms and their environments. Research interests of participating faculty span a broad range of organisms, environments, analytical tools, and spatial and temporal scales. PiE students receive training in the conceptual, philosophical, and historical underpinnings of ecological knowledge, as well as leadership and communication skills relevant to contemporary professional and public settings. All Program in Ecology students will also have a home department in a related field (botany, zoology, renewable resources, geology, etc.). Students interested in applying to Program in Ecology must first begin communication with a faculty member in a home department, and indicate interest in applying to Program in Ecology. Students must first be admitted to their home department, then to Program in Ecology to be eligible. This is an on-campus program only. Interested students must visit our website to learn more.
