Program Overview

Program Description:
The MA Degree in Contemporary Conflict offers advanced research in International Relations, providing students with a detailed social science based understanding of the role of conflict in modern international politics, in conflict resolution and the linkages between humanitarian and military action. There is a particular focus on the causes and the impact of war and conflict, particularly the politics of conflict and the developmental impact. The School of Humanities hosts the Callaghan Centre for the Study of Conflict, an interdisciplinary research centre whose staff are engaged in conflict-related research. A number of the Centre’s staff and associates teach on the MA programme, and MA students are encouraged to attend and participate in the conferences, workshops and visiting speaker programmes organized by the Centre.
