Program Description:
Speech-language pathology is concerned with normal and disordered communication and swallowing. Students who earn the professional degree (Master of Health Science) will practice as speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in health, educational, or private practice settings. SLPs assess, treat, and manage disorders of communication and swallowing in both adults and children. Areas of specialization include childhood speech/language disorders, stuttering, aphasia, and swallowing, among others. Students who earn a research degree (Master of Science; Doctor of Philosophy) will receive advanced preparation for conducting research in normal and disordered speech, language, or swallowing. Each student develops research expertise in a specific area of interest.
