- The Department of Geography at the University of Toronto is the oldest, one of the largest and one of the most exciting departments in Canada. It has a faculty of more than forty professors, with research and teaching interests in most areas of the discipline, and about 120 graduate students. Depending on specific research areas and on research paper or thesis topics, Master’s degrees usually take one to two calendar years to complete; a Ph.D. is expected to take four years.
