Program Description:
Established in 1969, the UT-Houston Medical School has trained more than 2,700 physicians, approximately 60 percent of whom have remained in Texas. The School accepts 200 students each year. Currently 800 students are enrolled in First- through Fourth-year studies.

The UT-Houston Medical School, committed to educating physicians for medical practice, has consistently rated among the top 15 U.S. medical schools inthe number of graduates entering the primary care areas of family practice, general pediatrics and general internal medicine. The School has the State's firstfamily residency program which focuses on the under-served urban population.

The School's five basic science and 16 clinical departments provide students with a broad base of expertise which enables them to translate researchexperience into clinical practice. A new Problem-Based Learning curriculum builds upon linkages between the basic and clinical sciences and incorporates theconsideration of medical ethics within complex medical problems.
