Program Overview

Program Description:
The graduate-level program curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional social work careers working with diverse populations within an urban setting within the context of a generalist perspective framework of systems theory. Students select an emphasis in one of the following two areas:
  • Direct Practice - advanced practice with individuals, families and small groups; or
  • Administration, Policy and Planning - advanced practice in social welfare organizations and agencies.
The Regular Full-time Program (60 credits) requires four semesters to complete and begins in the fall semester. Nine hundred (900) clock hours of field instruction are completed concurrently with the required class work. The Advanced Standing Full-time Program (42 credits) requires 2 semesters and a summer session to complete and begins in the summer session. Six hundred (600) clock hours of field are completed concurrently with fall and spring semesters required class work. A part-time study option in both the regular and advanced standing programs are available.
