Program Description:
Structures research activity has been focused on the flexural and buckling response of plate structures made either of steel or fibre-reinforced composite materials such as CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics). The numerical analysis of the non linear response thin plates and shells, has continued and resulted in a new theory for stiffened plates that has been used to model the response of pressure vessel components and has formed the basis of collaborative research with Professor Kobayashi of Osaka City University.
