The programme provides an inter-disciplinary social science perspective on debates over the character of 'risk society'. Students are involved in the critical analysis of risk in relation to developments in contemporary sociology, social policy, health policy and criminal justice. Risk perceptions, attitudes and behaviours are studied in a wide variety of social contexts and institutional settings.
