Program Description:
June 6th - June 30th, 2016 During the month of June, we offer a four-week mini semester where students take classes in different subjects that are all unique to Israel. Each class mets three times a week and awards three academic credits. Detailed course syllabi and faculty information can be found on our website.

The 2016 Summer Courses Include: Economic Networks - The people in our networks influence our opinions, and shape our political views, the languages we speak and many of our major life decisions. This course is an introduction to the study of networks, largely based on Matt Jackson's material. Green Technologies - This course focuses on the environmental challenges and innovative solutions that were developed in Israel to make efficient use of the available natural resources. Israel: A Mosaic of Culture, Religion and History - This unique academic course allows the student in classroom seminars alongside visits to many of the most important historical sites in the State of Israel. Peace Psychology - The course teaches teaches basic concepts of peace psychology. In each class, a variety of psychological approaches, from neuroscience through political psychology will be discussed. Opportunities to personalize the course based on interests will be frequent. Terrorism and Responses - This course will examine the issue of terrorism as a growing form of political violence in the 21st century. Israel Stories: Page, Stage, and Screen - Stories both reflect and mold our world. Narrative enables us to process and make meaning from what we see and experience around us. Social Justice - a Global Perspective: Divided Cities and Shared Spaces- The course will engage students in theoretical discussions and expose them to social justice-based research methodologies, Please visit our website for more detailed information on all program including faculty information and course syllabi. Students are invited to join extra-curricular programs to see the country and practice the skills they are learning throughout the course of each program. Trips, tours and special events take place on a weekly basis and students can register for any or all of these activities.

Setting Description:
The University of Haifa is located on Mount Carmel overlooking the entire coast of Northern Israel. The stunning campus is set on the edge of the Carmel National Forest and the multicultural port city of Haifa. It is fifteen minutes from the Mediterranean Shore, an hour from Tel Aviv and Nazareth. The University is also two hours from Jerusalem.
