- Population studies is an inter-disciplinary field of study. The primary aim is to develop explanations of the relationships between population and development in both developed and developing countries. It draws in particular on theories and frameworks of analysis in Demography, Geography, Sociology and Economics. An emphasis is given to teaching and research in the fields of migration, ageing, demography of the family, labour force and human resource development, the environment, urbanisation, fertility and mortality, and women and development.
