Program Description:
The course provides a broadly based education and training for people with a degree or equivalentqualification in subjects other than housing studies and who are working in the local authority, housingassociation or private housing sectors. In particular, the course recognises the move towards a morestrategic role for local authorities in the formulation of overall policy for their areas and the co-ordination ofprogrammes which are implemented by both public and private sector housing agencies, often working incollaboration with relevant public services such as planning, health and social services. It also takesaccount of the substantial change in housing management tasks and approaches as a result ofdevelopments such as decentralisation, estate-based management and maintenance, privatisation, new forms of landlord-tenant relationship, new central government initiatives, urban regeneration and tenantparticipation.
