Program Description:

One year Masters programs and a wide range of research programs. The History Department is one of the largest in the country and has an enviable reputation as a strong vigorous department at the forefront of research and methodological innovation. Within each of the main research areas there is great scope for specialization and there are also unifying themes which span the Department and cut across boundaries of time and space - for example, women's history, urban history, religion, and the history of nationalism.
